Hammond B-3 organ for sale. Pretty good condition. Second owner. Probably about a 1959 (based on a serial number (80169) check, and by the look of some of the electronic components, e.g., wax capacitors, and other characteristics, such as wooden key cheeks/end blocks. Includes the bench and foot pedals. Also includes a Leslie 122 speaker (serial 22966), which I believe is about a 1972 model. The Leslie is not in matching color as it was purchased separately. A few scratches here and there on both the organ and the Leslie, but generally pretty good. The start switch on the organ can be a little touchy, but there’s no difficulty in starting the organ. Lots of action in the keys and pedals. I don’t think the color of the organ is the original finish (this one is a kind of ox blood color, and to my knowledge the B3 only came out in cherry and walnut finishes). A few modifications have been made to the organ: (i) added a Trek II solid state Leslie switch (to avoid the loud pop when switching speeds), which gives the player the ability to switch between three speeds (slow rotation, no rotation, and fast rotation); (ii) added a Trek II reverb coil, which is controlled by a dial underneath and next to the Leslie switch; and (iii) the percussion circuit has been changed so that the percussion amplifier’s trigger source is now from the 8th harmonic busbar, not the 9th, which means that the top-most (i.e., the 9th) drawbar is available at all times, even when percussion is enabled (the percussion, however, sounds the same as the stock set up). I am also including the technical manual for the B3 and for the Leslie, a Hammond B3 book, a bottle of generator oil specifically for these organs, and some spare tubes. This organ has never been used on the road and, overall, is in good shape, has lots of volume, and sounds pretty good for a 65-year old instrument. However, since it has hardly been played in 15 years, I think it could probably do to have a technician give it a good check-up (e.g., check tubes, clean drawbar contacts, add oil to the organ or Leslie, and make any other adjustments, if needed). Regarding shipping, I’ve listed this instrument for local pick-up; but upon inspection of the instrument in person by the prospective buyer and completion of payment per the terms of Ebay.com, I will be happy to cooperate with the buyer to effectuate whatever shipping method the buyer chooses if the instrument isn’t taken away on the spot. UPS has indicated that it can ship an item like this by cargo and they can provide pick-up and crating services as well.
