Antique Bronze Greyhound Sculpture Circa 1840, Non-magnetic After researching multiple sites for this item, I found the exact item on a museum website. The following is the data from that site: Willaschek, Valentin- artist/sculptor Manufacturer: Iron Foundry of Munkács Date of production: ca. 1840 Materials: Bronze The figure of the decoration is a lying greyhound, crossing its front legs and raising its head, with a belt on its neck. The first pieces of this type were made in the 1820 s in the Royal Prussian Iron Foundry in Berlin, following the model of Friedrich Riese, a German sculptor. It was first cast in Munkacs in the early 1840’s, during the activity of V. Willaschek. V. Willaschek produced a model similar to Riese’s, except for the posture of the dog’s feet. Several variants are known in various private collections. Please study the pictures to determine the authenticity and condition of this item. Dimensions: 3.25″ W 7″ L 3.5″ H Weight: 2 lbs 13 oz.
