“Highland Jessie” A group figure of a woman standing with a scarf over her head and shoulders beside a jug on a pedestal. To her right a soldier in military uniform sits on a barrel holding a rifle. 8.75 inches tall. This is considered a military figure. Highland Jennie was a mythical figure who was supposedly at the relief of Lucknow, ( a prolonged defense of the British Residency within the city of Lucknow during the Indian Rebellion of 1857) and rallied the troops shouting that she could hear the bagpipes of the relieving troops. Shown on page 257 of “Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875 Book 1” by Harding. This is a 19th century original, not a reproduction. PLEASE CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BUY WITH CONFIDENCE.
