If your machine shop tries to bore the block before they have the piston, go to a different machine shop because they do not know what they are doing. 3. FIRST: You take your block to a machine shop, they will tell you what size to purchase 4. SECOND: Then you order your piston, then take your piston to the machine shop so they can measure the piston, add in the tolerances and bore the cylinder.
