Size: 19.5 x 33 cm. Condition: Very good condition, no creasing, staining, foxing or tears. Trimmed to the image. This fine engraving was made by the Pietro Antonio Pazzi after a drawing by Giovanni Domenico Campiglia. It shows a female in the guise of the goddess Diana, with a hunting dog at her feet and a quiver of arrow over her back. The print is on laid paper with a watermark of a fleur de lys in a circle, and is of the period of the engraving. Campiglia provided most of the drawings, including this one, for the volume of prints which accompanied the opening of the Musei Capitolini in Rome, one of the oldest museums in the world. The prints were engraved by various hands. This is numbered 72. It is thus one of the earliest examples of a Museum art poster.
