WHEN & HOW TO PLANT: Hydrangeas are best planted in the garden during spring or fall. About six to eight weeks before the last expected frost, you can plant your hydrangea seeds. Sprinkle the seeds onto moist, fertile potting soil. Do not cover them with soil. They need light to germinate. COLOR & CHARACTERISTICS: The bigleaf hydrangeas are a moderately sized plant that would be great as a garden border. They sport larger leaves which pair nicely with the large flowers. GERMINATION & BLOOM: It usually takes about two weeks for the seeds to germinate. In ideal conditions, hydrangeas grow at a rate of 25 inches per year. Bloom in Early summer through the fall.
