Original WW2 dated WAR OFFICE map entitled ” SOLWAY FIRTH & RIVER ESK “. A Second ‘War Revision’ edition of the type used by the Home Guard, Army, RAF and Civil Defence. This map belonged to a WW2 RAF Navigator on the crew of a Lancaster Bomber belonging to 625 Squadron. To aid retrieval from his collection of maps, he has marked the margin with a ‘hatched box’ which I believe was his own indicator of the scale when the maps were folded.
