The 1911 ad says: “Wilhelm Rabe, Rathenow 31, Optische Anstalt, gegründet 1874” (established 1874). According to Manns (2017 p. 56-57), Karl Wilhelm Rabe (1845-1912) started a factory and a mail-order business in optical merchandise in Rathenow in 1874. The company produced eyeglasses, prism and galilean binoculars. Furthermore, microscopes and magnifiers made by other producers were offered. In 1906 Karl Wilhelm Rabe transferred the business to his son Otto Albert Wilhelm Rabe (1878-1962). The company’s logo was a raven sitting on a pair of galilean binoculars. Now weapons and ammunition for hunters developed to a second mainstay along with a gunsmith workshop. “Wilhelm Rabe, Rathenow 31, Spezialhaus für Optik” offered special optical gear and rifle scopes for hunters as well. The business worked until 1945. After the war the family Rabe moved to Western Germany. The firm’s name was deleted in the commercial register by 1968. 1911 an 8x and a 12x “Weera” were listed. The ad of 1914 advertised “Rabe’s Prisma-Binokle “Weera” in feinster Rathenower Qualität” with 26-30 mm objectives in 6x, 8x, 12x power.
