Looking for a home: A vintage mid-century wool CPO shirt in navy from Madewell. This 6-button overshirt is made in a thick melton wool with anchor buttons, with small linings added at the neck, placket, and sleeves. The fit is like a relaxed M (see pictures for measurements), with a boxy, cropped silhouette. There are two chest pockets and gussets at the hem, which is fairly straight. The neck lining has a few rips, but other than that, it’s in fine vintage condition. The original Madewell company was founded by a Russian/Jewish immigrant in New Bedford, MA, in 1937, where they made workwear clothes for New England dockworkers. It has no real connection to the modern Madewell line.
