This vintage Herschede #861 mantle clock is a beautiful piece with a Westminster chime. The front of the clock boasts a stunning burl wood that is either walnut or mahogany. It has a carved arch pediment with a center urn shaped finial. The finial comes off and will be taken off for shipping. There are some scuffs to the finial. Although the clock is currently not working, it has the potential to be a great investment for the right buyer. The chimes did work when the hands were moved manually but the clock does not run. It has a beautiful sound to it. This is not an area that I have any knowledge in so I wouldn’t even attempt to figure out what is wrong with it. The case body measures approximately 3.75″ depth x 12 ” width x 8.5 ” high at the back. The overall dimensions are 13.75″ high at the front to the top of the finial, 13.5″ wide at the feet and 4.25″ depth at the feet. The numbers on the dial are still vibrant and the gold tone of the face also looks good. The clock comes with a certificate from the original limited warranty that has the model #861 on it. This is marked inside on the works with the number 340-020 which identifies it as a Hermle clock movement and above the number is something I cannot read but it has TWC (2) Jewels unadjusted and made in West-Germany. This piece is in excellent condition physically. There are no dings or scratches on the wood. This piece would look beautiful anywhere in the home.
