Small, orange and black, cast iron dog from ACCO. Across the dog’s chest is ACCO in raised letters that were painted black. The back has “HINES PUP” engraved in, camouflaged into the design. These small dogs were handmade and painted by students in ACCO’s training program as assignments then the company used them as free giveaways to customers mostly in the 1940’s, possibly a little before that. Given the age it has become a pretty rare collectable. Very unique piece of American advertising history. 1.5″ tall, base is about 1″ wide. Mostly good condition. Paint has worn off in a few places, mostly on the front. It’s cast iron so there’s no cracks or chips. The only damage is to the paint.
