Statuette of the Slavic god Veles. Figurine carved from linden. Covered with stain and wax. Made to order about 2 days. Will be slightly different from the statuette in the photo. Height approximately 7.5 inches God of the Slavic pagan pantheon. Veles is a god of three worlds (Prav, Yav, Nav), free to move between them. One of the meanings of the name of this Slavic god – “the great ruler”. God Veles was also called the Strong God (Asila), his children-heroes were called asilki, or volotomans, i.e. Velesichi. God Veles is revered as the God of Wisdom and Magic, who patronizes Knowledgeable people. Also the Slavic god Veles is the patron of travelers. He is also revered as the God of wealth and prosperity. Merchants and artisans who sold their goods turned to Veles for help and patronage. Veles is also known as the keeper of the boundaries between the worlds. It is he who transports the souls of the dead across the Berezina River (the river of oblivion) and carries the souls of infants to the Clear World.
