This listing is for the single challenge coin pictured. From a retired US Navy admiral’s personal collection of challenge coins, each given to him individually over a 35 year career. This one undoubtedly received in the palm with a handshake from Lewis, a 1968-1969 Marine veteran. More than 20,000 African Americans trained in segregated facilities between 1942 and 1949 at Montford Point, NC, and became the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps and were thereafter known as Montford Point Marines.
