My new batteries work for the first couple days, but no longer working? Why? The batteries come with little charge, therefore it can power the Solar light for the first couple of days. The built-in charging panel should keep the battery level maintained or full. However, if there is a problem with the charging panel (on the light), it means the battery is not being charged and will eventually run out, which is why the lantern is not powered.
