Tropical Guava are small trees or shrubs with leathery leaves and a bark that peels easily from the branches. They are native to tropical America. The fruits are round, ripening from green to yellow or red. They are very acidic and are full of hard round seeds. This tree, 20-40ft, has very attractive bark with a smooth satiny sheen and variegated shades of reddish-brown, blondes and grays. This yellow skinned fruit has an excellent familiar flavor, tasting of the island flavor known and loved world wide. Fruits are small, to 3-5″ around. The very juicy pulp is translucent and tastes pleasantly spicy. Tropical Guava trees do well on the beach areas.
