Smith & Wesson Cylinder Yoke Extractor – Model 686 No Dash, 686-1 & 686-2 READ!

Up for sale is a Nice overall condition factory original Smith & Wesson 686 Cylinder + Yoke + Extractor Complete Assembly, that originated from a well cared-for S&W Model 686 No Dash .357 Magnum Revolver. Because of the length of the Ejector Rod, this assembly should be used on S&W 686 Models that originally shipped with barrels in length of 4″ or longer. This Assembly is in very pleasing condition with only a handful of light handling marks and signs of general use. The Chambers are bright and shiny, the Extractor and Center Pin and their Springs glide nicely and springs are responsive, the Extractor Star seats accurately, assisted by the Locator Pins which are aligned properly. There is no wobble or shake when the Cylinder spins on the Yoke, and there is no evidence whatsoever of any corrosion or pitting ever existing on any of the components within the Assembly. PLEASE NOTE: The Front of the Cylinder Body is visibly free of fouling, but there are signs of some light surface scratches that appear to have probably originated from repeated cleaning. We want to mention specifically that there is a very faint to light appearance of a bevel on the outer, front edge of the Cylinder – perhaps also a result of repeated cleaning, and many times from just normal wear and use – but regardless, the overall length of the Cylinder IS IN SPEC at precisely 1.62″ and would not pose any issues with operation or performance. As for compatible models, to the best of our knowledge , this Assembly (Because of the “Squared” slot on the Yoke Stud) will be compatible with the following 686 ( and 681 ) Models ONLY: – Model 686 No Dash, 686M, 686-1 and 686-2. – Model 681 No Dash, 681M, 681-1 and 681-2. **** PLEASE NOTE: **** If you have a Model 686-3 Model 686-4 or Model 681-3, the Cylinder itself would be interchangeable but you will need to USE YOUR OLD YOKE!! The Yoke stud on the newer models 686-3 and beyond used the “Beveled” Slot on the Yoke Stud, not the Squared slot as the old ones did (like the one in this Listing). Also Note that the shape of the Extractor Star on a 686-4 had a “Squared” outside perimeter, versus all the earlier variants (like the one in our Listing) that had the Symmetrical, Circular Extractor Star. FINAL NOTE: If you have a 686-5 or LATER model (or a 681-3 or LATER model), we do NOT recommend using ANY of these parts, as there were multiple engineering changes to those later models and we cannot speak to these parts being compatible.
