Vigorous and pretty, showy evening primrose is a sprawling perennial with masses of fragrant, bowl-shaped, satiny white flowers with a texture of silk. large, 2″-3″ inch wide flowers age to rose-pink with deeper pink veining. they stand erect on sprawling stems atop rosettes of oblong to lance-shaped, toothed, mid-green leaves. blooming profusely from late spring to early fall. this is a valuable plant for its ability to grow in poor soil and tolerate drought and deer. winter hardy, this spreading perennial grows 18″-24″ inches tall and spreads by rhizomes up to 24″ or more.
