I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 46th year – and I was in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. We are now in the semi-retirement stages and I am offering our somewhat unusual advertising pieces collected over the years. However, this collection of eight different Russian Federation lapel pins were not part of our business. I have always had an interest in unusual items. Long ago, probably 20 years or so, I found these interesting Russian made lapel pins at a small antique store and purchased them. However, they were never been displayed, but rather kept in a small box in a bin in one of our climate controlled sample rooms. Only recently did I happen upon them, and figure it is time to let someone else be the custodian. All appear in new condition, and as mentioned, never used nor displayed. I know nothing about these, but here are my observations: * One appears to say something about “SOS”, and has several colors – appearing to be enamel. It is 1.5″ high. * One is three dimensionally stamped out in a silver color. It has the number “45” on it, and is 1.5″ wide. * A runner is displayed on one, and has a green enamel inlay. The size is 1.125″ high. * The star shaped pin has a young individuals head and with color inlay. The size is 1.25″, and the back stamped 10K, but surely it is not ten karat gold… * One has two flags with symbol in middle and number 300. The back indicates that the flag on the right is from 1696, and the one on the left from 1996. It is 1.25″ wide. * One with a leaf background has an image of who I believe to be Lenin – but may be wrong. Red inlay background, and size 1″ high. * The round one with the light blue center make no sense to me. It is .875″ wide. * And the last one is of a parachute and wings. .875″ wide. It appears all were made in the Soviet Union. Only $28.00 for all eight pins!!! What an excellent addition to any collector of such items. From a smoke-free, pet-free climate controlled environment.
