Norman Rockwell’s THE TOY MAKER Rosenthal – Selb – Bavaria Hans Wohlrab Op-Art AKROPOLIS Vase Being offered on this auction is a gorgeous vase made by Rosenthal China , Selb , Bavaria , Germany . It is of famous now German Op-Art line. This is Rosenthal form number 2722. Famous Austrian artist and designer Hans Wohlrab (1905-1978) created this form for Rosenthal. It is called ‘Akropolis’ and really associates with pictures of Ancient Greek. Wohlrab was a contributor at the beginning of Rosenthal Studio Linie in the 1950s. His designs remain rare and very collectible. Akropolis has several variations in relief. Vase on this auction is ribbed along all height. It is painted in pale blue, pale pink, pale yellow, white and light gray. It is marked on the backside with standard Rosenthal, Germany mark in green identifying production of c. 1957. There is also Rosenthal Studio Linie ‘S’ logo printed in gold on the backside. Vase measures about 3 ¼” in its widest diameter on the top and stands 10 ¾” tall.
