This is a Trunciflora jabotciaba that is being grown in Santa Catarina Brazil. The tree was found being cultivated there for its fantastic fruit quality. You can identify a Trunciflora Jabotciaba for its long penduncle, usually 1-4 cm long, and costate ribs on the fruit. This specie is also known for being able to produce fruits in as little as 4-7 years from seed. This tree if different than the regular Trunciflora, because the fruit produced are huge. Typically, the normal size of a Trunciflora Jabotciaba is around 2cm, these fruits were more than double that size, some measuring in at 5 cm across, that is just slightly smaller than a chicken egg. The fruits each have 1-4 seeds. The quality of these fruits are similar to that of other Jaboticaba, sweet with a great fruity flavor.
