Original Painting By Czech Artist Ota Janecek, Organisms #8. Ota Janeček was a Czech artist who significantly influenced modern Czech painting, sculpture, free graphics and book illustrations. He brought to the post-war art a deep relationship to nature, which was his constant inspiration. In his work from the 1940s we find a reference to Amedeo Modigliani. Ota Janeček was awarded the Marie Majer Award in 1964 and in 1969 the awards of Minister of Culture. In 1985, he was nominated as a merited artist. In addition to painting, a very significant part of his work was graphic creation, especially linocut, lithography and dry needle. A prolific artist who could work in any style. Ota was a peer of Picasso, Dali, and others of his day, and the influence of these masters can be seen throughout his career. Towards the end of his career, OTA became an illustrator for many influential and prestigious children’s books, and his works hang in such prominent institutions as the national gallery and the Tate Modern. The piece for sale is still in its studio frame and has been owned by a single collector for over 60 years.
