***** THE MAGIC GADGET SITE wants to THANK all our customers who have supported TMGS for over 20 years!! And if you are new to TMGS, you can learn more about any of our items and our fast, friendly service by visiting THE MAGIC GADGET SITE eBay store. Share the magic! ****** COLLECTION LIQUIDATION — I am helping a magic friend sell most of his collection, (and I already had a ton of magic I was trying to get listed!) so I am putting his Collection items in this separate eBay store category, and I will probably not be saying too much about the items. I will give a few good photos, and I will give a quick assessment of the item. If you know your magic, you will recognize many items and know they are a great deal here. Or if you don’t know the item, you may have to do a bit of online research to find out about it. Or you can just trust my honest (though quick) assessment of any item — I always endeavor to tell you the good and the bad of anything I sell. Message me if you are seriously considering buying something , and want a bit more info on it. Happy to help. And keep checking the “COLLECTION LIQUIDATION” category of my ebay store, as I will be adding more items all the time! OK, I admit that I never liked the idea of the metal card guards that hit the magic market a couple decades ago. They seemed like something that audience members shouldn’t see — a special metal clip to hold your cards from warping. I don’t know… it just seemed like an extra little bit of nothing that might make audiences even more suspicious of the magician’s deck of cards. BUT, now, someone got the great (and simple) idea of adding a prediction to the guard. So you take it out, and explain that it keeps your cards from warping, etc, so that you can do the highly sensitive sleight of hand that is necessary to fool an highly intelligent audience like this one, etc etc etc. Show the large Ace of Spades on the front of the guard, explaining that if someone is asked to randomly name a card, they usually say Ace of Spades, but we will make a truly random selection from the deck. Have a card selected — I use the cross-cut force, and then let the time misdirection occur while I explain the importance of the card guard. Then ask the name of the card selected. It is the Q of Hearts. Now turn the card guard over to show the same card is imprinted on the guard. For me, this suddenly made this prop worthwhile! It not only served a purpose of protecting the deck, but had a built-in trick to go with it. And for some reason, a prediction that is printed on metal seems more impressive than one printed on paper. Go figure! If working for a woman, after explaining that most people name the Ace of Spades, I ask her to name a different card from that. If she names the Queen of Hearts, I skip the part with the actual cards. Just turn over the guard and WOW! Miracle time. But if she names any other card, I say “And that is the second most commonly named card!” Then I go into the selection from the deck to end successfully. For an added bonus, there’s a second prediction (7 of Hearts) on the edge of the guard, so you can choose either one. (Personally, I always use the big Queen of Hearts!) This guard is metal — it will actually protect your deck, unlike many of the cheaper versions that just look like they should protect your deck. IMPORTANT NOTE: the deck of cards in the photos is not included — just there to convey the use of the guard. This listing is for the BLACK metal card guard.
