Perfect matched pair of vintage Mullard E188CC audio tubes – Made in Holland – 1964 – Identical Date Code – Very Rare No other tubes can deliver vocals like the Mallard’s, whether they’re from Blackburn, Mitcham, or Heerlen, and that’s a fact. These E188CC tubes are extremely hard to find today and are being hunted to extinction by audiophiles and sound professionals. Compared to the Mullard E88CC and ECC88 tubes, the E188CC’s have more forward vocals and wonderful, airy top end, big images and very spacious sound stage. The overall tonality is warm and lively, great for all types of music and movie sound, and of course the vocals! And like all the E188CC/7308 tubes, they have low noise to the vanishing point. I treasure this pair also because of the pristine condition of both tubes (clear inscription and clear date codes), which is amazing given the tubes’ age. What makes this pair even more rare is the identical date code on both tubes: delta 4C1 ( delta = Heerlen, 4 = 1964, C = March, 1 = 1st week of the month ) The two tubes are tightly matched and perfectly balanced based on mutual conductance. Both tubes super strong NOS on a Mercury 2000 tube tester with the following excellent result: Tube 1: 117/122 Tube 2: 118/120 Good tubes start around 65 – 70 and new tubes (incl. NOS/NIB) come in at around 100. They worked wonderfully & sounded terrific with no noise or microphonics.
