He was the recipient of the 1st prize in watercolor at the Saratoga Centennial, 1963. He was also the recipient of the Grand Prize at the Saratoga Arts Festival, 1966 & The Statewide Exhibition, Short Hills, 1966. Herbert Beerman was the professor of art at the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, since 1960. He was a visiting artist & lecturer at Rutgers University, Cornell University, University Lund, Seton Hall University, Werkkustschuler, Offenbach, Germany, Hochschulen fur Musik und Darstellung, Stuttgard, Germany. He was an art consultant at GTE Laboratories, Bayside, New York and Waltham, Massachusetts, 1971-1986. Beerman was a visiting artist at the United States Air Force Art and Museum Branch, Washington, since 1971.
