Ipomoea pubescens is a perennial morning glory species. Seeds originally were collected from a South American population and were made available to me in US commerce stream. I bought seeds from that company and offer seeds in this listing that I collected from my own plant. The mature vine will produce numerous small purple flowers which are attractive to small bees. The sepals are lyre shaped, which is very cool to see. Over a year or two of growth, the plant will produce a large storage root or tuber. It is indeed a perennial, but during the dormant period (in winter for me) you must not ever provide water to the soil or the plant will suffer from root rot and die; a truly tragic event. Winter hardy to zone 9a. You will have to overwinter the plant indoors in a dormant state if you live in a heat zone lower than zone 9a. Why not try growing something different this year?
