This ebay Buy-It-Now offering provides a 231 TK3 tune up kit of new parts for the INGERSOLL RAND 1/2″ drive impact wrench models. Per the Ingersoll Rand web site this kit fits these models: 231 A, C and 232TGSL (Thundergun). 8/11/21 Update. Several things have been brought to my attention about Ingersoll Rand 231 models and 232 Thunderguns. 1. The notched rotor vanes that I provide with my IR tune up kits will perform better on tool startup when the notches are all facing FORWARD AND TOWARD the hammer frame. 2. The sealed bearings I supply which come with metal or rubber seals can be easily removed with a small screwdriver. They do not need lubricant as a maintenance item. Contrary to that, Ingersoll Rand provides grease fittings on many of their pneumatic tools for greasing of the rear bearing through the hollow rotor shaft and then forward into the hammer case. The grease is intended to lube the hammer frame components. I have never encouraged the external greasing of sealed impact wrenches even though this is by IR design to be done…regularly. If you are injecting grease by hand pump or with pneumatic assistance you have no idea how much grease you are putting into your tool. Too much grease will pack the hammer frame and cause the tool to perform poorly much the same way that overfilling your engine crankcase with oil cause engine damage. Undergreasing is not likely to happen in my experience nor is tool damage likely to occur from not greasing it regularly. Now, if you take the hammer case off annually and do some hand greasing of the hammer frame parts while inspecting for wear and damage this offers a better alternative to blindly greasing a sealed tool. 3. On ultimate tool performance testing the removal of the seals on bearings can very slightly improve the tool performance. 4. My personal recommendation is to use sealed bearings. Forget about doing periodic greasing but attend to the bearings when you tune up your tool every 3 to 5 years. Avoid over greasing the bearings. They don’t need it. **Sealed Bearing Notification: Just remove the seal with a thin screwdriver if you don’t need to worry about dirty air or wet air. The seal works to your benefit if you have dirty unfiltered air or wet air environments that you work under. In the last 15 or 20 years Ingersoll Rand starting making their vanes out of plastic. These vanes have notches cut into them. I was told this was for easy removal of the vanes from their molds. I buy and ship both types with notches and without. *If you own an Ingersoll Rand model 2705 tool this kit will also work for you. The 2705 is the industrial version of the model 231. Buy with confidence and save money by not paying another ebay seller $50 for the same kit I offer here for much less money…DELIVERED! The difference between a 231-TK2 and 231-TK3 kit is the deletion of bearings to the 231-TK2 set and the addition of those bearings to the 231-TK3 set. The shipping weight is 4 ounces with an eBay USPS.com Ground Advantage shipping label. Ground Advantage is the slowest and cheapest shipping service offered on eBay. International orders are shipped to Glendale Heights, Illinois where the eBay Global Shipping Program completes the delivery process.
