A superhero story set during the Great War , The Sentinels tells in 4 volumes the story of a special division of the French army, and its most eminent member, Taillefer, a kind of cyborg covered in metal, insensitive to bullets and powered by a radium battery 1 . Founded at the beginning of the century, the project of a metal man was confronted with the lack of a sufficient source of energy to power the machine, but at the beginning of the war, the radium battery, invented by Gabriel Féraud, gave the opportunity to revive this program. An anti-militarist, Féraud refused to see his creation used on the battlefield, but, mobilized, soon mowed down by a shell and amputated of all his limbs, he was offered a deal by Colonel Mirreau, offering him to give away his invention in order to become the new Taillefer…
