Sacred datura or ‘thorn apple’ is a gorgeous sprawling vine/bush native to the desert southwest. It possesses incredible white flowers about 6 inches across that smell amazing. Flowers open after dusk and close during the heat of the day, staying open longer on overcast days. Blooms all summer long. It is pollinated by hawkmoths. Take care with this plant as it is known to be poisonous and potentially hallucinogenic if consumed. Very drought tolerant. Will readily reseed if fruits are allowed to ripen.
