In Greek mythology, Kronos is one of the 12 children of Uranos (Father Sky) and Gaia (Mother Earth), called the Titan Brothers, and is the youngest son. According to legend, he ruled in the mythological Golden Age by overthrowing his father in the chain of universal sovereignty, depriving him of the power to produce, and was dethroned by Zeus, one of his sons, and imprisoned in Tartaros. Kronos is depicted with a curved knife, sickle or scythe in his hand, which he used to deprive his father of manhood. In Athens, Kronia festivals where the harvest was celebrated in honor of Kronos were held in Hekatombaion, the 12th month of the Attica region. The fact that Kronos is seen as the head of the gods who are the protectors of the harvest and fertility makes sense as it coincides with the Golden Age, when the people of the era in which he ruled lived carefree, painless, and trouble-free, and effortlessly benefited from all kinds of blessings of the soil that spontaneously spread fertility.[1] Kronos’ co-existence in ancient Rome was Saturnus.
