CARIBBEAN WATERCOLOR Watercolor on off-white wove paper, 20 1/4″ x 13 3/4″ (image and sheet), indistinctly signed lower left; hinged to the matt with a small piece of tape in each corner, verso; several pieces of brown paper tape, verso, from a former matting / framing, the largest 14″ x 3/4″, including a piece in the lower right corner, verso, which covers (and perhaps mends, just outside the signature) an approximately 1 1/2″ tear to the sheet, the tear faintly visible, recto; handling creases. Undated; probably, a work from the second half of the 20th century. Matted (front board only, unevenly faded); unframed. We have not identified the artist. The subject (clustered houses, a harbor and shoreline) is possibly Caribbean, possibly Mediterranean.
