It’s native to Tropical & Subtropical Asia to NE. Queensland. It is found in forests, open lowland thickets, where it climbs over bushes and trees. It is a host plant for the common birdwing and common rose butterflies. It is used for medicine in certain cultures. These grow well in containers with something to grow up. It can grow to around 10 feet long. The leaves are oval to oblong with a pointed tip. The flowers are 2-3 inches long in a pitcher shape with a purple-brown tongue. It loves to grow in the full sun with well-drained soil. Zones 9-11 Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover with soil. Keep moist in a bright spot.
