The Century Magazine, in 1890, covered a HUGE amount of subjects that include slavery in England and the Colonies, tons of articles about the Civil War, politics during that time, Indians and Territories Information. Included is an article about the Andersonville Prison, Bloodhounds and Slaves, Dixie, a Hard Road to Travel, Admiral Farragut, lots of articles about Lincoln, McClellan, New Naval Guns, Sheridan, a lot of articles about Valor and Skills of Soldiers in the Civil War, and more. There are a slew of articles about California, and about politics. Election Reform was a big topic, as was a flat tax. Journalism was written about, in a not very flattering way, lol. The articles date back 130 years, and many are still relevant today. The book is huge, and quite heavy. I don’t believe it was an ex-libris (bound for a library shelf) but as a special edition for readers. I have another compilation for sale from Century that IS an ex-libris; it has library information, while this one doesn’t. The pages are printed on thin paper, and becoming fragile. There don’t seem to be any missing pages, however.
