Up for auction is a rare and handmade professional A. Laubin full conservatory wood oboe. This oboe is not currently in playable condition and the pads and corks are in fair condition. The oboe would benefit from a cleaning, new pads and corks installed or professionally overhauled for optimal performance. This oboe has scratches throughout from normal use and the lightly tarnished silver plated keys have minor wear. The oboe has a left hand F key, an alternate C key, a split ring key and a low Bb key. There is a repaired and stable crack in the upper keyed section and the bottom of the bell section has several visible nicks. The matching serial numbers are in the AL-5xx range which dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1965. Included is a used Protec zippered oboe case with accessory compartments(zippers function as intended, interior is intact, exterior could use a cleaning and includes a shoulder strap). This is being sold in “as-is” condition and the pictures provided are considered as part of the description. The oboe has the potential to be a real gem with some TLC and there’s over an 8 year waiting list for a new Laubin oboe now priced at over $12K!!
