Pentas seeds need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist but not saturated at a temperature of 70–75°F. You can cover the tray with plastic or glass to help retain moisture. Place the seeds in a bright location with lots of sunlight, like a sunny windowsill, or under grow lights. If using grow lights, turn them on for 16 hours a day and off for 8 hours at night, and raise them as the plants grow taller. After 2–3 weeks, seedlings should emerge. Harden off the seedlings for at least a week before transplanting them outdoors. Space the plants 12–15 inches apart in a location with full sun and well-drained, average to fertile soil.
