Edible Extra Long Smooth Luffa – Sponge Gourd – Gourd Luffa Seeds – Hạt mướp hương package includes: 10+ seeds HOW TO GROW: Seeds have hard skin and may take a long time to germinate. Soak loofah seeds in water for at least 24 hours before planting to help encourage germination For improving the seed germination, it is suggested to break slightly the seed at the non-seed-eye area/edge by clipping or sanding. This treatment will allow water entering the seed inside the core to trigger the germination process. Note: If you live in a chillier zone, start the seeds indoors at about six weeks before the last frost. Wait to transplant until the soil has warmed and there is no chance of frost. Transplant the seedlings spaced about a foot apart. Trellis, arbor, chain link fence or cattle panels are ideal structures to support luffa vines to climb. Allow maximum full sun exposures to have good fruit productions. Maximum heat and water will allow luffa vines to thrive. If there are excess male flowers, you can use a scissor to cut off the male flowering shoots. If female flowers fail to bear fruit, try manual pollination using cotton swabs. The vine can travel more than 30-ft or 10 yards, and it would be a good idea to pinch off the end at 10-ft length to allow the vine to branch out more. If you miss this window of time, let the luffa ripen, dry it, and use it as a sponge To gather sponges, allow fruits to be fully ripened and dried up / browned out on the vine. If not fully dried by the first frost, harvest them and hang them dry inside the garage, shed or any dry area. Cutoff both ends by a few inches, shake the dried gourd and black seeds will come off, and can be used the next growing season. Peel off the dried skin to yield white sponge, great for bathing or dish cloth. If the skin cannot be peeled off easily, try beating the dried loofah against a tree trunk to break off the skin in pieces. ****SEED STORING: – Store your seeds in a cool, dry and dark location. – Most seeds have a long shelf life, but heat and moisture will cut that life short. These seeds are prepared for 2024 growing season.
